GRASSROOTS RT. 1 DAY RESOURCE CENTER

This ministry serves the homeless along the Rt. 1 corridor, providing showers, laundry, clothing, internet access, phone, mailing address, basic living supplies, conversation and referrals to social services. It is open Mondays 2-6 p.m., Wednesdays 3-7 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The Grassroots Rt. 1 Day Resource Center is located at 8826 Washington Blvd, Jessup, MD, 20794; phone 301.776.9900, email daycenter@verizon.net. A team of Glen Mar volunteers provides the lunch meal on the 4th Saturday of each month for approximately 70 people. 8-10 volunteers are needed to prepare one or more dishes, half of whom will stay to serve lunch on site or do other jobs (e.g., greeter, shower/laundry monitor, pantry). We especially need drivers!

Minimum Volunteer Age: 18. Youth interested in helping out could help parents prepare and deliver food, or pick up, wash at home, and deliver towels when the Center is open (contact the Rt. 1 Day Center to confirm if they need help with washing towels).
